On August 3, 2009  Kurzeme's Business Incubator Ltd. (KBI) signed an agreement with the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia on providing business incubation services in Liepāja, Kuldīga and Saldus from 2009 to 2014.

Business incubator is a structure that supports and promotes business activities in a particular economic field, especially, it promotes the formation and development of new, innovative businesses by facilitating knowledge and technology transfer. Its primary function is to promote the formation of new companies by providing them with premises, infrastructure services and consultation services related to entrepreneurship during the incubation process of 4 years. The main goals are:

  • to promote cooperation between educational and scientific institutions on the one hand, and production on the other hand;
  • to promote formation of small companies that produce new, technological and knowledge-based production;
  • to establish contacts between research labs and industry;
  • to promote international cooperation among small businesses with the purpose to produce high-quality, competitive products and create new work places for qualified professionals and researchers;
  • to promote formation of society that would be open for innovation.
